Vedic astrology is the primary method of all astrological systems. At times, there is a possibility that we do not get predictions right using the Vedic astrology system. Astrologers have applied various methods to 'progress' the birth chart. Progressions are calculations that help individuals understand what might happen in any concerned year, whether it's in the past, present, or future.
In astrology, a progress chart narrates where a person is on life's journey. It helps answer the question of how a person changes each year. Think of it like a map showing how a person progresses personally over the years. Life is a journey; astrology shows a person’s growth and changes. A progress chart shows how a person changes over time as a result of their surroundings, family, and experiences, as opposed to a birth chart, which shows the planets at birth.
The birth (natal) chart is the starting point of a person's life journey. It's like the "looks almost new" model, presenting the fundamental nature of a person. Now think that the progress chart is like the system upgrades for that person. Just as no one would stay with an old version of Windows or iOS when there's more advanced software available, the progress chart keeps the person updated over time, reflecting their development and changes.
Astronomer and astrologer Johannes Kepler introduced the concept of a progressed birth chart in the 1600s. It represents the minor changes a person experiences in life by calculating how the planets have moved from where they were in the original birth chart.
In astrology, a progress chart is created by moving the planets forward one day for each year a person lives.
To understand a progress chart, one needs to enter the birth details as in a regular birth chart: birthdate, place, and time. But here, the progress chart also needs to add the current date (or any date after the birthday). This supports calculating where the planets are placed now compared to where they were when the person was born.
